Students and Parents,
Welcome back to the 2014-15 school year. I hope that all students and their families enjoyed the summer break and have returned to school eager to learn many new things. Our teachers and principals have spent much of the summer preparing their schools and minds to make this an exciting school year for every student in Bladen County.
We have made a tremendous effort to ensure that budget cuts and reductions in staff have not hampered our ability to deliver a quality education to students. We are excited about the opportunity for students to obtain college credit through our New Schools initiative. With this program, high school students can take college courses at BCC, ECU and UNC-G, and gain as many as twenty- two college credits before graduating high school. We have also upgraded computers in all thirteen schools, replacing over 350 units. Our technology footprint continues to grow, and we recognize computer upgrades are a step in the right direction for providing quality technology to our students and teachers. These are just two of the many exciting things students can look forward to this school year.
Our focus as a district for the 2014-15 school year is to provide quality customer service to all our students and teachers. This means ensuring that our schools are welcoming and friendly, that schools are clean and inviting, and more importantly that we provide quality instruction to all students. We want our schools to be a place where children want to be and a place where parents want to visit.
I am excited about this school year and look forward to partnering with parents and businesses to make this the best year yet for Bladen County Schools. We encourage you to visit our schools and provide us feedback on how we can improve to meet the needs of all children.
