Welcome to the Bladen County Schools Website ::
Message from the Superintendent
Robert P. Taylor, Ed.D, Superintendent

On behalf of the Bladen County School System and the Board of Education, I welcome you to the district website.  I am both humbled and excited to begin my first year as your new Superintendent.  Bladen County Schools has a high level of expectations for both its administrators and its students which I find both compatible and consistent with the expectations I hold for myself and the educational organization with which I work.

As we prepare for the 2011-2012 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the vision and goals of academic achievement and leadership for Bladen County.

I believe our goal as educators is to prepare students to live in a world in which they will occupy.  Unlike our educational experiences, the children of today live in a global society that is complex and dynamic, and ever expanding.  It is for that reason I want our children to continue to be exposed to 21st century technology, experience global learning, and leave high school with the skills to be successful in college or the workplace.  Classrooms will be places where hope for the future abounds, dreams will be born every day, and expectations of individual and collective accomplishments will become reality.

We will provide our principals and teachers the very best professional development and curriculum support to enhance their skills, because they are the difference makers. Our Principals will become the instructional leaders in their school.  They will live, breathe, and speak instruction with teachers, staff, and students on a daily basis. It is the blend of our teacher's skills, the culture of caring for everyone, and a sharp instructional focus along with the effective use of 21st century technology tools that will create student success.

The Board of Education, Administration, Teachers, Staff, Parents and Community - along with our County Commissioners and elected officials will work collaboratively to ensure that we accomplish our mission for every child. Supportive and well-versed board members, effective educational leaders, excellent National Board Certified Teachers, involved support services, parental support, and community foundations will form a unique partnership that embraces learning at all levels.

Have a restful summer and I look forward to seeing you on the first day of school, August 25.
