Each year in October the Bladen County Cooperative Extension Center holds a two-day Ag’em Up field days, a time for experiencing farm living for all third graders in Bladen County Schools at the Bladen County Recreational Park. As part of the event students are invited to write an essay about their experience at Ag'em Up for entry into an essay contest. The essays are submitted to the Ag'em Up committee for scoring and review. The top five scorers each receive a certificate of recognition and a $10 gift card to Dollar Tree. Those students were awarded this week at their respective schools by members of the Ag'em Up committee.

This years winners were:
  • Jackson Pait, Bladenboro Primary School (Mrs. Kinlaw, teacher)
  • Brenna Hester, Bladenboro Primary School (Mrs. Smith, teacher)
  • Tylik McCall, Bladenboro Primary School (Mrs. Smith, teacher)
  • Nate Schutz, Bladenboro Primary School (Mrs. Hardy, teacher)
  • Carlee Atkinson, Dublin Primary School (Ms. White, teacher)

In addition, teachers had the opportunity to complete a post-event evaluation for a chance to have their name drawn in a raffle. Kristy Hester from Bladenboro Primary was the winner and received a $25 gift card.
