Dr. Ken Phelps, Architect / Lead School Planning Consultant with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction delivered the school planning section final report to the Bladen County Board of Education on August 8, 2016 regarding the possible consolidation of schools in Bladen County. The 110 page report investigated physical facilities at the primary and middle schools in Bladen County, listing detailed observations at each school. The investigation focused on the condition of school facilities relative to remaining in service or accepting additional enrollment, and on the need for repairs, reconditioning, and/or modernization of the facility in order to meet applicable standards of health, safety, and educational support. The board of education received the report and acknowledged that they would further study the report and its findings.
