The school cafeteria as we know will be unrecognizable when the next academic year begins in the fall, whether or not in-person instruction resumes. Instead of eating in the familiar, raucous spaces they remember, students can instead look forward to breakfast and lunch in their classrooms, or more of the take-home meals that districts have developed on the fly to replace their conventional food-service programs.

Across North Carolina, you can find sites for student meals at no cost near you through a statewide interactive map, or simply text ‘FOODNC’ to 877-877. In Spanish, text 'COMIDA' to 877-877.

Parents can also call 2-1-1 to speak with an operator who will help them locate meal sites in their community. The 2-1-1 service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Services are provided in English, Spanish and many other languages.
