About the Superintendent

Dr. Jason Atkinson is a native of Bladen County; having lived in Bladenboro, NC.  During his childhood, he attended Bladenboro Primary School, Bladenboro Elementary School, Spaulding Monroe Middle School, and Bladenboro High School.  He and his wife, Erica, now reside in White Lake, NC, and have three children, Carlee Faith (16), Brodee James, who passed away shortly after birth in 2014, and Weslee Saul (1).

Dr. Atkinson earned degrees at the following universities:

Bachelor of Music in Music Education (BM) – UNC Pembroke
Master of Arts in Education in Instructional Technology (MAEd.) – East Carolina University
Master of Arts in Music Education (MA) – UNC Pembroke
Educational Specialist in Educational Administration (Ed.S.) – Liberty University
Doctor of Worship Studies (DWS) – Liberty University
Doctor of Education in School Administration and Supervision (Ed.D.) – Liberty University

All of Dr. Atkinson’s professional career has been in the education field.  He has served in the following roles in both K-12 and higher education:

Dr. Atkinson is also an ordained minister and currently serves as the Minister of Music at West Lumberton Baptist Church.  He has previously served as the Minister of Music at Dublin First Baptist Church in Dublin, NC, and as church pianist at Northside Baptist Church in Bladenboro, NC.
