English Learner Program

Program Overview

Bladen County Schools (BCS) strives to provide equal educational opportunities to students who have a primary or home language other than English and who are Limited English Proficient (LEP). The focus of the English Learner Program is to provide an English-rich environment for our English Learners (EL) so they will become proficient in English as soon as possible. Bladen County Schools wants to create a learning environment that encourages student pride in their cultural heritage and provide the cognitive and affective support to help students become contributing members of society.  

Our English Learner program, beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through high school, will provide each non-English or limited English speaking child the opportunity to be successful in academic areas.  The teachers in our department will work with them to develop their skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
