How To Become A Substitute
We appreciate your interest in becoming a Substitute Employee with Bladen County Schools. The Human Resources Department supports continuity in the learning process by timely placing substitute employees when the regular teacher must be absent.
How To Become an Substitute Teacher:
REQUIREMENTS:
Substitute Teacher: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. (Transcript must reflect hours completed and Grade Point Average). All foreign transcripts must be equivocated, through an approved agency. You MUST also bring a copy of valid Drivers' License and Social Security Card. Completion of the online Substitute Training Course ($49.00 fee) with a composite passing score of 80%. If you have a valid current teaching certificate, you are exempt from taking the online Substitute Training Course; however, you MUST provide a copy of your valid current teaching certificate to the Bladen County Schools Human Resources Department.
STEPS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR SUBSTITUTE TEACHER EMPLOYMENT
To ensure that your application is given careful and timely consideration, you will need to follow the instructions below. Your application will not be considered for employment until you have completed the following steps.
Online Effective Substitute Teacher Training Course:
The Effective Substitute Teacher Online Training Course is $49.00 per person and can be purchased online with a Visa or MasterCard. The course is designed by APP-Garden and delivered by Cook Education Consultants, Inc. You must complete the online Effective Substitute Teacher Training Course with a composite passing score of 80%. You will be required to upload the certificate of completion to your Bladen County Schools application. If you have a valid current teaching certificate, you are exempt from taking the online Substitute Training Course; however, you MUST provide a copy of your valid teaching certificate to the Bladen County Schools Human Resources Department.

How to Become a Substitute In Other Areas:
REQUIREMENTS:
Substitute In Other Areas such as Clerical, School Nutrition, Classroom Teacher Assistant and Custodian: High School or College Transcript required. A copy of a valid Drivers' License and Social Security Card.

All applicants must complete a Bladen County School System application. The application is located below this description for North Carolina Public Schools Employment. Once you have completed the application, send an email to Ms. Deborah Guyton, dwguyton@bladen.k12.nc.us with notification of the application submitted to Bladen County Schools.
