Student Health Services
School nurses collaborate with the other support services within Bladen County Schools as well as with families and the community to fulfill our mission of "Producing responsible citizens by educating all students with global skills needed for the 21st century".
School nurses support the educational success of students by working to minimize and/or eliminate educational barriers related to health issues. Student health services provided by school nurses include, but are not limited to programs such as vision screening, dental education and safety education; nursing care plans and emergency action plans for students with chronic health conditions; emergency care for illness and injuries; and health promotion for staff.
School nurses serve as managers of student health care to develop school health policies based on current research, assist with referrals to health care providers and serve as a resource to link parents with other community organizations.
