“Once a Blue Devil, Always a Blue Devil.”

Born and educated in Bladen County, Mrs. Heather Guyton Thompson, is elated to return to Clarkton School of Discovery as the Principal. 

Mrs. Thompson graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2001 with a double major in English and History.  After graduating, Mrs. Thompson entered the education field, teaching at Bladen/Elizabethtown Middle for five years until she transferred to Clarkton School of Discovery. She taught Project Challenge Language Arts/English I until 2019. During her time at Clarkton School of Discovery, Mrs. Thompson served as Junior Beta Club Sponsor, NC Junior Beta Club State Sponsor, Athletic Director, School Improvement Chair, implemented the English I curriculum to 8th graders, and served in numerous leadership roles.  

Mrs. Thompson left CSD in 2019 after receiving her master’s degree in Educational Leadership. She served as Assistant Principal of East Bladen High School until returning to Clarkton this summer as Principal.  

"I am excited to serve as a principal!  My passion is developing positive relationships with everyone within the community, working with students as they grow, supporting teachers and staff to reach their greatest potential, strengthening a connection between school and home, and fostering a positive school culture.  At our core, we know that the school-to-home partnership allows us to provide an extraordinary school experience for all students. On a personal note, Mrs. Thompson resides in Bladenboro with her husband, Patrick, their dog Jackie Brown and numerous cats.  She loves to read, write, spend time at the beach and is known for her contagious school spirit!
