North Carolina Education corps member - reading tutor -  Bladen County Schools

In partnership with North Carolina Education Corps,  Bladen County Schools is seeking NC Education corps members to serve as reading tutors in Bladen County Schools from September 2021-May 2022. This is a great opportunity for retirees and/or former educators and parents looking for part-time employment.

About the job

Corps members will work part-time during the school day as reading tutors for elementary school students between kindergarten and third grade. Following NCEC’s high-impact tutoring guidelines, tutoring will take place in a 1:1 or small group setting to emphasize social-emotional learning and maximize impact. Tutoring curriculum and activities are provided by the school and are grounded in the science of reading and reading instruction. 

Each corps member will be assigned a Learning Coach who will lead them through pre-service and in-service training during their one-year commitment. Training sessions will build knowledge around high-impact tutoring, tutor-student relationship, and the science of reading, and the delivery of reading instruction. 

Corps members will be selected for service by NC Education Corps and hired by Bladen County Schools. Applicants should anticipate Bladen County Schools 10 to 15 hours a week occurring during the school day, and a 9-month commitment (September-May).
