PowerSchool Data Breach Updates
Bladen County Schools recently learned it was affected by a cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, the student information system previously used by the district and all North Carolina school systems.
The breach occurred on December 19, 2024, when a PowerSchool contract employee's credentials were compromised, allowing unauthorized access to student and staff data. PowerSchool has confirmed that the threat has been contained, and the accessed data has been destroyed.
The district is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with PowerSchool and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to ensure ongoing data security.
