As Bladen County Schools prepares for the 2025–2026 academic year, the district is pleased to announce several key leadership appointments designed to further strengthen instructional support, staff development, student services, and digital innovation.

Superintendent Dr. Jason Atkinson expressed his confidence in the newly appointed team of executive directors.

“Each of these leaders has demonstrated a deep commitment to student success, staff support, and continuous professional growth,” said Dr. Atkinson. “Their experience and vision will be instrumental as we work together to advance learning opportunities for all students in Bladen County.”

Stephanie Norris, who most recently served as the district’s Executive Director of Secondary Services, now leads the newly consolidated office of Academic Services. A National Board Certified Teacher and seasoned administrator with 26 years of experience in the education field, Norris brings expertise in curriculum development, strategic scheduling, and professional learning. She has contributed at the state level through her work as a Rethink Education Facilitator and has presented at regional, state, and national educational conferences.

“I’m honored to support academic programming across all grade levels,” said Norris. “As we approach the new academic year, we have an opportunity to align our instructional systems in ways that truly benefit students, and I am excited to help lead that work alongside our academic coaches and administrators.”

Joining her in a new role is Priscilla Brayboy, who transitions from Executive Director of Elementary Services to Executive Director of Human Resources and Professional Development. Brayboy, a proud graduate of East Bladen High School, brings nearly 25 years of educational experience to the position, including years as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district administrator. Her background in curriculum and administration provides a strong foundation for supporting and growing district personnel.

“Educators are the heart of our schools,” Brayboy shared. “I look forward to fostering a culture of support and development that helps every staff member thrive and, in turn, positively impacts our students.”

Dr. Dia Thomas has been named Executive Director of Student Services after previously serving as Director of Multilingual and Migrant Education. With more than two decades of service in public education, Dr. Thomas has held roles ranging from teacher and instructional coach to principal and district administrator. Her leadership has been recognized at the state level, including Bladen County Schools’ receipt of the NCDPI Outstanding Migrant Education Program Award.

“This role is deeply personal for me,” said Dr. Thomas. “Students succeed when their academic, social, and emotional needs are supported. I’m committed to making sure every student in Bladen County has access to the resources they need to thrive.”

William Bell, has been named Executive Director of Technology and Cybersecurity. A U.S. Army veteran and former classroom teacher, Bell most recently served as Director of Digital Teaching and Learning. He holds degrees in biology and education and has been instrumental in enhancing the district’s digital infrastructure and instructional technology initiatives.

“Technology is an essential part of education, but it must also be safe, reliable, and responsive,” said Bell. “In this new role, I’m committed to supporting secure and innovative systems that serve both students and staff.”

These leadership changes, which took effect on July 1, reflect Bladen County Schools’ commitment to continuous improvement and forward-thinking leadership. With a focus on academic excellence, staff support, and student-centered services, the district is poised to build on recent momentum and drive meaningful growth in the year ahead.
