🐔🌾 From Hatch to Harvest – A Full Circle Experience 🌾🐔
On Wednesday, April 27, our West Bladen Animal Science II Honors students brought their hard work to its final stage. Over the past 8 weeks, students raised 21 broilers from hatching to processing—gaining real, hands-on experience in animal care, responsibility, and food production.

The birds were processed at the Bladen County Extension Office, where the incredible Extension team provided a supportive, educational, and professional environment. Students not only completed the process, but also learned about safe food handling and proper poultry processing practices alongside community members.

💙 We are especially proud to share that all birds will be donated to local Bladen County food banks, giving back to our community and making this project even more meaningful.

A huge thank you to the Bladen County Extension team for helping make this experience possible!

A group of about 14 students and adults are standing together in a classroom, posing for a group photo. They are arranged in two rows—some standing in front and others behind. Many of the individuals are wearing purple superhero-style masks and a few have matching purple capes, giving the group a fun, team-like appearance.
A woman is seated at a small table in what appears to be a school hallway or classroom area. She is smiling gently and posing with one hand raised near her face in a relaxed, playful way. She is wearing a gray shirt with a name badge clipped to it and a purple superhero-style mask, along with clear-framed glasses. Her hair is styled up in a high bun, and a purple cape is tied around her shoulders, matching the mask.
A silver wire bangle bracelet is displayed on top of a soft, red velvet pouch. The bracelet has several small charms attached near the front. One charm is a round, flat disc engraved with a message about lunch, suggesting appreciation for someone who provides or supports meals. Next to it is a heart-shaped charm that clearly reads “Thank you” with a small heart symbol beneath the words. Another charm is shaped like a small frying pan, adding to the food or kitchen theme. The bracelet and charms have a polished, reflective finish. The red velvet pouch beneath them provides a rich, soft background, making the silver jewelry stand out. To the left, part of a small wooden display stand is visible, and the surface underneath everything appears to be a smooth, metallic countertop. Overall, the image highlights a thoughtful, food-themed appreciation gift, likely meant to thank someone involved in cooking or meal service.
A small appreciation display is arranged on a metallic countertop. On the left, a clear acrylic sign stands upright in a light wooden base. The sign contains an encouraging message in mixed fonts that reads: “In case nobody told you today… You are amazing You are important You make a difference, You are incredibly APPRECIATED and you deserve the best! (So keep on being you, because the world needs more of who you are!)” The word “APPRECIATED” is printed in large, bold letters, making it the focal point. Simple leafy designs decorate both sides of the text, and a small red heart sits centered at the bottom of the wooden base. To the right of the sign, a silver wire bangle bracelet rests on a soft red velvet pouch. The bracelet has several charms, including a round engraved charm with a message about lunch, a heart-shaped charm that says “Thank you,” and a small frying pan charm, suggesting a food or kitchen appreciation theme. The overall scene feels warm and thoughtful, combining a heartfelt message with a small gift, likely intended to show gratitude to someone who helps prepare or provide meals.
