📢 West Bladen FFA Monthly Meeting Recap 📢
The West Bladen FFA Chapter held its monthly meeting Tuesday in the ag shop—and we are officially entering our busy season! 💙💛
Students rotated through a variety of hands-on FFA contest activities, including:
🥩 Meats – putting together a meat cut model
🥔 Food Science – guessing chip flavors
🎯 Hunter Safety – shooting rubber bands into cups
🚜 Truck & Tractor – maneuvering a small pipe
🔥 Welding – precision practice using mayo packets
Lots of learning, teamwork, and laughter—fun was had by all! We’re excited for everything ahead this season. 🌾💪

There’s no place like home! 💜🏠 Mr. Brisson shares that returning to teach at West Bladen High School, helped him find his true drive as an educator. He loves serving the students he shares a home and community with. We are so glad to have you at West! ⚔️

Due to the possibility of inclement weather this weekend, the Beta Showcase scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026, has been canceled. We are working on rescheduling and will announce as soon as possible.
Any student who is 16 or older may give blood this Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 9am to 2pm. Please see Chief Courtright to sign up.

BCS Families—There is no school on Monday, January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. All BCS schools, departments and facilities will be closed.

The West Bladen High School Agriculture Program is looking for help to beautify our campus! We are currently holding a Flower Bulb Drive and would love your support.
We are accepting donations of bulbs to plant around the school grounds. If you have extra bulbs or would like to pick some up to donate, we are looking for: 🌼 Daffodils, Tulips, & Lilies 🌸 Iris, Hyacinth, & Gladiolus 🌺 Canna, Caladium, Dahlias, & Crocus ✨ ...or anything else interesting!

If you are interested in participating in Equine (Horse) Judging, Poultry Evaluation, or Livestock Evaluation CDE competitions, please plan to attend the FFA meeting on Tuesday, January 13.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, you must see Ms. Boomhower in Room C-1317 no later than Wednesday, January 14 to express your interest.
These competitions are a great way to build industry knowledge, leadership skills, and represent our FFA chapter.

🌟 BCS December Student of the Month Spotlight 🌟
Carolina is a dedicated leader who excels both in the classroom and beyond. Maintaining strong grades across all her classes, Carolina serves as a leader in the JROTC battalion and is an active member of the Student Government Association. She competed on the cross country team and currently contributes to the Color Guard, Raiders, and Drill teams. Her commitment to West Bladen High school and community events, combined with her polite manner and dependability, makes her a positive example for peers throughout the school.

Women's Soccer workouts will resume this week (January 5). Monday thru Thursday 3:30 until 5 on the soccer field. All girls interested in playing soccer this year should plan to participate.
The FFA Hunter Safety Team will begin their tryouts on Thursday, January 8th. Please see Mr. Nunnery for more details if you are interested.
