Yesterday, our Elementary Student Advisory Council met with Superintendent Dr. Jason Atkinson and Deputy Superintendent Ms. Ann Brown, to share their perspectives on what’s working well in their schools and the challenges they see.
These student leaders represent voices from across our elementary schools and provide valuable feedback that helps shape the student experience. The council meetings also give students an opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, and see leadership in action.
We could not let the day pass without saying a HUGE thank you to our incredible custodians. Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but their impact is seen and felt every day. From keeping our schools clean and safe to lending a helping hand wherever it’s needed, our custodians are truly the backbone of our schools.
We are grateful for your dedication, care, and the pride you take in making our schools a welcoming place for students, staff, and families. 💙💛
👏Please join us in showing appreciation to our custodians today—and every day—for the vital role they play in helping our students learn and grow.

For the month of October, we are excited to highlight artwork from students at Bladenboro Primary School. Their creativity, imagination, and hard work are on full display, bringing color and inspiration to our office walls. 🌟
We look forward to celebrating student artists from every school throughout the year—another way we’re highlighting the many gifts and talents of our #LearnersToLeaders.
October is National Principals Month, and we proudly recognize the incredible leadership of our principals. Each day, they balance instruction, operations, community, and culture—all with students at the center.
Their work often happens behind the scenes, but the impact lasts a lifetime. We are deeply grateful for their courage, compassion, and commitment to shaping the future of our schools.
Join us in celebrating and thanking our principals for leading with vision and heart—not just this month, but every day.

Students are practicing multiplication by building arrays with Play-Doh. By rolling, grouping, and arranging their pieces, they are able to see and touch the concept of multiplication.
An engaging way to make learning stick!

Bladen County's very own SafetyPup is making the rounds and stopped by to visit our district office, Elizabethtown Middle, Elizabethtown Primary, and Dublin Primary this week. SafetyPup is part of the National Child Safety and Drug Prevention Program, which helps students learn important lessons about topics like stranger danger, traffic safety, and drug prevention—all in a fun and memorable way.
We are grateful to Sheriff James A. McVicker and his team for their continued partnership and dedication to keeping our students safe while teaching them how to make responsible choices.

🚜 From the classroom to the field—our agriculture students are gaining hands-on experience with tractor driving!
East Bladen’s Agriculture Teacher, Mr. Erik Hartsfield, and West Bladen’s Agriculture Teacher, Mr. Sean Nunnery, are preparing students with skills that are part of their agriculture courses and also connect to the Tractor Driving Career Development Event, which will take place during the Fall 2025 semester.
🩺Putting Learning into Action—Nursing Fundamentals students at East Bladen High School had the opportunity to practice their skills by taking Principal Dr. Chris Carroll's blood pressure. After taking the blood pressure manually, the students verified their accuracy using an electronic blood pressure cuff.

Presenting at today's meting was Bladen County Schools District Athletic Director and East Bladen's Athletic Director (AD) Patty Evers. Coach Evers is serving her last term on the NCADA Board of Directors.
We are proud of the sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment to excellence shown by our student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff.

Seniors at both East and West Bladen, turned their school's parking lots into a canvas! Each painted parking space is more than just a spot—it’s a reflection of creativity, school spirit, and the excitement of their final year in Bladen County Schools.
We love seeing our students and families come together to make lasting memories as the Class of 2026 begins their senior journey!

Today, our principals and district administrators came together for our monthly leadership meeting. These meetings provide an important opportunity for learning and collaboration that strengthens our shared leadership.
Our team worked through the first two chapters of our book study today, focusing on strategies to build momentum and make meaningful change in our schools.
We are grateful for the commitment of our leaders who dedicate time each month to learning together, aligning our vision, and ensuring that every decision supports our students and staff. 💙
Sometimes the most powerful lessons don’t come from the scoreboard, but from moments of integrity.
During an East vs. West Bladen soccer match, West Bladen captain Jonah Bryan, with the support of Coach Brett Jackson, stepped forward to correct an officiating error—choosing honesty over advantage. Their decision upheld the integrity of the game and demonstrated that leadership is about doing what’s right.
Tonight, Bladen County Schools proudly recognized Jonah and Coach Jackson for their outstanding sportsmanship and leadership. Their actions reflect the very heart of our district theme, Learners to Leaders, showing that true success comes from courage, integrity, and respect.
💙💛 We are proud of all our student-athletes and coaches for reminding us that character always outweighs the scoreboard.
